Ok, I might be wrong (I am sometimes, I'll admit it) but I'm fairly sure that I'm not evil. And unless I've missed some serious clues, neither is my roommate. So why in the hell are people so scared of us?
Alright, explaining might be in order.
Yesterday was my birthday, so I went out for dinner with my group. Afterwards, five of us went for a drive. We didn't get back until nearly one.
Duo and Doug had left their things in our room, so we let them in to get their stuff. Because the hall we live in is an All-Girl hall, we left the door open, so no one would freak the hell out over Doug being there. They grabbed their things, and after a couple of 'Tanjoubi ometeto's, they left.
This was around 1:15, 1:30.
When Steph and I came back to the room, we went to our desks. She typed up an e-mail and sent me a video. I read, then watched the video and cooed at the appropriate moments.
Around 1:45, she tugged my hair, her version of an "I'm tired." We were both in our beds and asleep by 2.
Now, we can be loud. I know we can be loud, but generally, we keep that to a period when a) it isn't Quiet Hours, and b) we aren't dead tired. Duo occasionally forgets that she has a volume control, as does Steph, but I can think of no point last night, after we left the car, that anyone spoke at any volume higher than normal, calm conversation.
So naturally, the first thing I expected to see on our white board this morning was a message stating "You should be more considerate of others when it's late. You're loud and very rude." (Grammar may have been corrected, but emphasis is theirs)
After much mute gesturing and raised eyebrows (it's Thursday, we're tired, neither of us has had coffee, and we'd just woken up: we weren't the most eloquent cavewomen) I scrawled a reply, generally saying that yes, I could understand their sentiment...If we'd even been there.
Now, really, is it so hard to KNOCK and let someone KNOW that they're being loud? Generally, and I know that this is a mindfuck of the highest order, if you let someone know that they're disturbing you, they WILL quiet down. I know it sounds really weird, but, unless you disturbed their yearly blood-sacrifice to the Dark Prince, they aren't going to kill you for letting them know that they're being loud.
Where did this 'suffer in silence and then leave an accusatory message on their whiteboard' mentality come from? Does it REALLY waste that much more energy to walk over and knock? You're walking over anyway, (I'm presuming you're doing this when the person in question is actually being loud, otherwise, it's taking you all night to think up the message and that's just sad) raise your hand and knock. It'd probably take less time, and even if the only thing you can manage is "Ugh. Loud. Ugh." I'm pretty sure they'd get the message.
Y'know what. I'm tired. I've not been feeling well. I'm not even going to bother with it anymore.
